The REVERSE GRAFFITI project

For some it may be something innovating, cool and new, but it is rooted back in 2008 in San Francisco when the British artist Paul Curtis mainly known as ''Moose'' thought about combining graffiti art to environment and reversing its role. The Reverse Graffiti project has been initially powered by Green Works, plant-based cleaners. However, to put a parenthesis, graffiti in my opinion is not something to combine with dirt and damage as long as art is performed for art's sake and does not intrude on private property. Of course, writing words, slogans and demonstrating by damaging the private property is a violation of art; turning grey, dull, dirty walls in art masterpieces, colorful patterns and beautiful artworks though is something to admire and why not encourage? Adding color and happy images to the miserable, concrete city is not a sin. Anyway, the REVERSE GRAFFITI project is based of dirt. Dirty, sooty surfaces are scrubbed up till clean ''graffiti'' images are produced. The means used by the artists are high-pressure sprays, cleaning products, stencil like boards and heavy-duty clothes. In this way, the artist uses the ''power to removal'' to produce his/her ''clean illustrations''. As Moose successfully comments ''Pollution is my medium'' and we do indeed live in an era where environmental consciousness needs to be a MUST. N-joy some Reverse Graffiti project images below ;)

Being influenced and motivated by the Reverse Graffiti project, we nowadays come across innovating street marketing cases where stencil methods and not only, are applied on walls/roads so as to create similar ''clean illustration'' images carrying a message and strengthening brand awareness. The effective Smart mhd OOH below comprises the Reverse Graffiti philosophy and is implemented via the stencil technique. Thumbs up! N-joy ;)

Google Art project

1st February 2011, London and Google unveils its GOOGLE ART PROJECT. Since then, the most famous art museums of the world are just a click away. After long collaboration between Google and the world's best art museum partners, there has been launched a cyber area providing the online visitors with the opportunity to:
* see a thousands artworks of the most famous painters in history. Artworks in 1Gigapixel resolution, with the options of being zoomed and commented as well.
* enjoy a 360 virtual museum areas tour
* upload and publicize their own artworks

A splendid project making ART accessible at every edge of the earth. It provides everyone with the opportunity to digitally visit the best museums worldwide and witness the grand art masterpieces. Thus, art becomes accessible, available and friendly for everyone and though we do not have real interaction, art does not require labor, time and money. Some may argue that the Google Art Project isolates art from man as s/he is not supposed to be visting museums - on the spot - but can do it via a pc. The important is that the world wide web is everywhere and we are everywhere due to this fact. Google Art Project performs ART for ART'S SAKE. In addition, it is implemented with the consignment and the close cooperation of the museum teams, too. They were the ones to accommodate the 18-month project from the artistic point of view in cooperation with the technicalities issues supervised both by them and Google. So the Google Art Project is an outcome of more than one parties collaboration.
Already curious to test this? Just type in the URL http://www.googleartproject.com/  and enjoy the tour to 17 of the most well-known art museums around the world : Altes Nationalgalerie, The Freer Gallery of Art Smithsonian, National Gallery (London), The Frick Collection, Gemäldegalerie, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA, Museo Reina Sofia, Museo Thyseen - Bornemisza, Museum Kampa, Palace of Versailles, Rijksmuseum, The State Hermitage Museum, State Tretyakov Gallery, Tate, Uffizi and Van Gogh Museum.

If you happen to be walking and window shopping around Kolonaki area , downtown Athens - Greece, do not miss a stop at The Avgo handmade jewellery store! The jewels are concepts of Nikos Kapsohas, a young upcoming trendy jewellery designer, well known at the artistic circles as his pendants were worn by the Greek Eurovision mission of Giorgos Alkaios & Friends, singers Eri and Liuba Zora and lots of tasteful and elegant cosmic figures. His jewels lines are natural, minimal, airy, for all seasons and all time classic, not to mention anything about the attractive and customer-friendly prices. In addition, The Avgo can meet up with any requirements of its customers as any imaginary designs become true via Nikos Kapsohas' magic hands. Nikos Kapsohas is a very promising jewels designer and let's hope he also gets involved with other fashion fields apart from jewels. He is a real inspiration and open to recommendations. Apart from jewels, The Avgo is specialised in social celebrations items such as weddings, christening and similar events. Can you imagine it???? MONCLER Grenoble heats & hits ...the dancefloor! ;)

Moncler Grenoble has recently attracted the eyes due to its avant garde, extremely creative presentation of the Fall / Winter 2011 snow clothing line. In particular, the ''dance-walk'', and NOT catwalk, event took place at the Grand Central Station of New York. At the main ticket hall area, an uplifting dancing performance led by the Moncler models took place attracting both the passer bys and the worldwide sight as well. The whole fashion performance is based in the crowd-dancing incidents that have been regularly organized and accomplished in public means stations, central city spots where a lot of strangers, after some rehearsals, used to gather and dance in the same way some tracks. This habit became extremely popular after Michael Jackson's passing away; his innumerable fans gathered all around the world and danced to his beats. In a similar way and inspiration, the Moncler models danced to a successful music compilation at the Grand Central Station of New York while wearing and showing off the Moncler snow clothing equipment! The spectators got stuck all around the space to take photos and some ones started dancing , too! This is a fashion show to be surely viewed, well-remembered, copied perhaps or better inspire the rest to leave the catwalks and place their fashion in lower layers, approachable and more interactive areas. The particular event was produced by Villa Eugenie. Thumbs up again and again!!!n*joy :)

BARBOUR for Steve McQueen

As part of their 75th anniversary celebrations, Barbour will be releasing a “Steve McQueen” tribute collection. The line consists of t-shirts, jackets, and knitwear and will be released at the WP Store Florence on January 11th, 2011.

An essential element of the store is Barbour’s long association with motorcycling, apart from the famous usage in hunting. From 1936 to 1977, the Barbour name was synonymous with trials biking and Barbour biker suits were worn by virtually every British International motorcycle team during that period. In the 1954 International Six Days Trial (ISDT), nearly three-quarters of all competitors wore them. As a member of the elite US team, actor and racer Steve McQueen wore a Barbour International suit in the 1964 East German ISDT.

''Nike Stadium'' packaging!

Nike innovates in its creative expression of being a supporter of soccer! The avant garde trainers packaging received a 2007 Cannes Lion. The shoe box is the classical Nike package, brown - orange exterior and while it opens... there comes the surprise! The interior is designed to look like a stadium full of spectators and the best comes when it opens and there is the embedded sound clip of the crowd cheering!!!  Only a limited number of them and though a Nike lover, I envy the lucky ones to have purchased trainers boxed like this !

ART AND THE CITY ...@ the heart of Athens, City Link

ART is so vivid in the City. Athens downtown gets painted !!! From September 30 till October 10, at the heart of Athens, in specific at the City Link Spirou Miliou archade, young artists create and display their artworks! Twenty young graduates of the National School of Fine Arts  have been drawing with their City in mind. Their arts get inspired by Athens and their paintings are collectively exhibited in Spirou Miliou archade. At the time being, the young artists have initiated their projects and there is so much color and artistic vibe downtown. It is worth passing by the pedestrian street of Voukourestiou that leads to Spirou Miliou and wander around the out-of-home atelier. The atmosphere is uplifting, colorful, vivid and the citizens need to add color in their daily routine. The exhibition which is a live experience starts on September 30 and finishes on October 10. The official opening ceremony as well as the top 3 artworks distinction is set to take place on October 2. Afterwards, all the exhibits will be displayed in the archade for the passer bys. An artistic initiative aiming at adding freshness, inspiration and color in your life and City :-)

Hope you N-joy ... ''ART AND THE CITY ''
