With A Piece Of Chalk - JuBaFilms

This short film, produced by German filmmakers JuBaFilms, tells the story of a young boy overcoming a painful past -- problems at home, bullying at school -- though breakdancing. We have to uncover deep inside us that we have the power of Art to take us far away and add optimism and strength in our lives.

the LEGO art has no limits...

Since childhood, everybody has been wandering into the LEGOland. Conquering our mind, memory and senses, the LEGOs magnetize our attraction. Sympathy for the LEGO, I would say :) For some people, LEGOs go beyond entertainment and plastic toys play; they mix up with inspiration, creativity and become a vivid representaion of ART. The short video below, produced by Kornhaber Brown, presents 3 stunning LEGO artists whose artistic perpective is one in a million. N*joy Sean Kenney, Alex Kobbs and Nathan Sawaya LEGO ART CONSTRUCTIONS! Music... when rap mixes with classical!

DJ Premier's, ie Christopher Edward Martin, participates in mixing rap, hip hop with traditional music styles such as classical. Rap classical track for RE:GENERATION featuring Nas and the Berklee Symphony Orchestra.
RE:GENERATION is a documentary film that follows DJ Premier, Pretty Lights, The Crystal Method, Mark Ronson, and Skrillex as they remix, recreate and re-imagine five traditional styles of music. Hip hop can entail a wide variety of definitions, transformations, innovations. AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL ''Making the Invisible VISIBLE'' campaign.

German street art collective Mentalgassi have collaborated with Brothers and Sisters creative team Lisa Jelliffe and Kirsten Rutherford to create a series of unique art installations for Amnesty International.

“Making the invisible visible” uses lenticular fence posters. The art installation depicts a close up of six well-known individuals who have suffered unfortunate abuse regarding human rights acts. The victims' faces become only visible to those approaching the fence. Front on, the images become invisible. A plaque on each site alerts passers-by to an Amnesty website (www.amnesty.org.uk/fence) where they can sign a petition calling for justice for the victims.

“Mentalgassi’s images are unexpected, arresting and emotive. Their surprising use of faces on fence railings reminded us of prison bars which seemed like a unique way to highlight Amnesty’s work.”

Mentalgassi are a collective of three artists from Berlin. Their distinctive photographic street art is seen throughout Europe, with their work being included in Miami’s Art Basel Fair, Bilbao’s Getxo festival and Serbia’s Exit Festival. Their work can be seen at www.mentalgassi.de or http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mentalgassi/194987001606

Help save the SEA!

The recent environmental catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico is an unforgettable incident having polluted both the sea and the ecological human conscioussness as well. Therefore and in order to help preserve the sea wealth, the Surfrider Foundation Europe in cooperation with the ad agency Young & Rubicam Paris have designed and published a memorial calendar 2011. In particular, the illustrations are images of beautiful surfrider ladies in ''petrol oil painted'' swimming suits posing at the Mexican Gulf waters. The calendar concept is very smart, attractive and successful in projecting the message of help save the ocean, the sea, the coastlines, the sea wealth in general.
N*joy some indicative photos below and more info about the foundation @ http://www.surfrider.eu/

The REVERSE GRAFFITI project

For some it may be something innovating, cool and new, but it is rooted back in 2008 in San Francisco when the British artist Paul Curtis mainly known as ''Moose'' thought about combining graffiti art to environment and reversing its role. The Reverse Graffiti project has been initially powered by Green Works, plant-based cleaners. However, to put a parenthesis, graffiti in my opinion is not something to combine with dirt and damage as long as art is performed for art's sake and does not intrude on private property. Of course, writing words, slogans and demonstrating by damaging the private property is a violation of art; turning grey, dull, dirty walls in art masterpieces, colorful patterns and beautiful artworks though is something to admire and why not encourage? Adding color and happy images to the miserable, concrete city is not a sin. Anyway, the REVERSE GRAFFITI project is based of dirt. Dirty, sooty surfaces are scrubbed up till clean ''graffiti'' images are produced. The means used by the artists are high-pressure sprays, cleaning products, stencil like boards and heavy-duty clothes. In this way, the artist uses the ''power to removal'' to produce his/her ''clean illustrations''. As Moose successfully comments ''Pollution is my medium'' and we do indeed live in an era where environmental consciousness needs to be a MUST. N-joy some Reverse Graffiti project images below ;)

Being influenced and motivated by the Reverse Graffiti project, we nowadays come across innovating street marketing cases where stencil methods and not only, are applied on walls/roads so as to create similar ''clean illustration'' images carrying a message and strengthening brand awareness. The effective Smart mhd OOH below comprises the Reverse Graffiti philosophy and is implemented via the stencil technique. Thumbs up! N-joy ;)

Google Art project

1st February 2011, London and Google unveils its GOOGLE ART PROJECT. Since then, the most famous art museums of the world are just a click away. After long collaboration between Google and the world's best art museum partners, there has been launched a cyber area providing the online visitors with the opportunity to:
* see a thousands artworks of the most famous painters in history. Artworks in 1Gigapixel resolution, with the options of being zoomed and commented as well.
* enjoy a 360 virtual museum areas tour
* upload and publicize their own artworks

A splendid project making ART accessible at every edge of the earth. It provides everyone with the opportunity to digitally visit the best museums worldwide and witness the grand art masterpieces. Thus, art becomes accessible, available and friendly for everyone and though we do not have real interaction, art does not require labor, time and money. Some may argue that the Google Art Project isolates art from man as s/he is not supposed to be visting museums - on the spot - but can do it via a pc. The important is that the world wide web is everywhere and we are everywhere due to this fact. Google Art Project performs ART for ART'S SAKE. In addition, it is implemented with the consignment and the close cooperation of the museum teams, too. They were the ones to accommodate the 18-month project from the artistic point of view in cooperation with the technicalities issues supervised both by them and Google. So the Google Art Project is an outcome of more than one parties collaboration.
Already curious to test this? Just type in the URL http://www.googleartproject.com/  and enjoy the tour to 17 of the most well-known art museums around the world : Altes Nationalgalerie, The Freer Gallery of Art Smithsonian, National Gallery (London), The Frick Collection, Gemäldegalerie, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA, Museo Reina Sofia, Museo Thyseen - Bornemisza, Museum Kampa, Palace of Versailles, Rijksmuseum, The State Hermitage Museum, State Tretyakov Gallery, Tate, Uffizi and Van Gogh Museum.
